Tablet Presentation

Each Extended Release Tablet Contains:
Metoprolol Succinate 25/50 mg

Metoprolol is the beta-1 blocker. It is used to treat pain of heart, increased blood pressure and improves the poor flow of blood to heart, irregular heart beat and controls heart rate.

Indications

• Angina Pectoris
• In the treatment of heart failure
• Myocardial infarction
• Hypertension
• Atrial fibrillation

Mechanism of Action

It Blocks the beta-1 receptor present in the cardiac cells and produces the negative chronotropic effect and positive inotropic effects or increases stabilization of membrane

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption- It is absorbed in GIT by orally
Protein Binding- It mainly bound to serum albumin
Metabolism- It is metabolized in the liver
Excretion- It is excreted via urine

Side Effects

• Dizziness
• Depression
• Nightmares
• Diarrhoea
• Mild itchiness
• Memory problems

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock
• Contraindicated in pregnancy
